Is one of Frances top tourist destinations, but its truly awesome castle is well worth the crowds should you go in high season. The castle also stages medieval tournaments in August.
A lovely old port with harbour, shops and restaurants.
Superbly picturesque hillside village set on the river Orb,with cafes, swimming, canoeing and well worth a stroll up the winding streets up the hill to the Jardin de Mediterranee and the church.
Wonderful medieval walled port town with narrow streets .
A nearby old chateau open to the public.
On the Canal Cu Midi with a pretty bridge from which to watch the canal boats go by, you must visit its lively Sunday market.
On the Canal Du Midi again, and with restaurants overlooking the canal and a huge cave on the canal
Very pretty village on the Orb north of Roquebrun.
The local villages, including Cessenon, Margon, Roujan, Laurens and many others are all worth a visit for their winding streets and wine caves.

At Reals on the River Orb about 15 minutes away, and also at Roqubrun a further 20 minutes drive.
The Gorges De Colomieres, a stunning gorge near Olargues. This is our favouite place for picnics by the river. You can also walk up the gorge to a tiny village where there is a café.
On the Orb at Roquebrun, and closer to Magalas just before Reals.
We highly recommend Serignan Plage and Cabanes De Fleurie, both about 30 minutes away.
Caves selling local wine are in most villages, including: Puimisson,Murviels-Le-Beziers, Puissalicon, Roquebrun, Capestang (on the canal)
There are many, many of them, so here are some of our favourites:
Chateau Grezan and only ten minutes away….. a mock castle with its own vineyard selling high quality wine , English spoken.
Chateau Fondouce, just outside Pezenas.
Chateau Margon’s cave has superb Chardonnay, and the village and its chateau are well worth a stroll.
Places and routes highlighted on it in pink are of above average interest or natural beauty. Photographs of some of them appear in the house picture portfolio.
